Our Story
Born on February 21, 1963 in San Ysidro Cabana, El Savador, Felix Antonio Montes was one of eleven children. At a young age, Felix became a farm worker and worked closely with all farm animals to assist him in building homes for his village. His hard work and dedication at such a young age allowed him to provide for his family, while at that time, there was a war going on in his country. Felix and his family felt helpless; but, he always dreamed of providing a better life for them. In 1981, he arrived in West Los Angeles California. He soon began to live his American dream.
His first job was in Marina Del Rey with the position as a dishwasher. In 1983 at the age of 20, he had his first child which motivated his determination to create a better life for him and his family. Felix performed various jobs from being a machine operator, to delivering newspapers for the LA Times and worked his way into being an Executive Supervisor of housekeeping in Hollywood, CA at the Le Montra Hotel. This allowed him to purchase his first home in South Central Los Angeles, CA in the early 90s.
In 1994, Felix had enough experience that he was able to become a carpet cleaner that worked with construction companies. By the year 2000, he was able to open his own business. He worked as a subcontractor and employed his own employees. Today, 25 years later, Disaster Protech is an IICRC Certified company, a California State Board Licensed Contractor and gives back to the community and his home country. People who have worked with Felix have said that he is humble, hardworking, dependable, professional and family-oriented. Some of Disaster Protech’s vendors continue to work with him for over 20 years now. Felix also has skills as a barber and tailor.
Felix’s plans for Disaster Protech’s future is to strengthen the company’s current structure while continuing to grow and build along with the development of the industry. He believes that with consistent hard work, Disaster Protech will continue to flourish for the decades and generations to come.
